Wanderers and the Law of Squares

Brad found himself with some free time after giving up his calling to be a health care reform activist. Patient referrals were steady, but not overly busy, and with occasional time to reflect, the old riddle “to become square, square yourself” came back to haunt him.

A dream came where he was with the 3 beings who had appeared in a vision when he was 14.  There were images of a barren and alien landscape, like another planet. He looked down at himself and saw that his body was blue like theirs. In the dream, he felt lighter, and faster than a human should. They were playing a 3-dimensional game, using thought control to move pieces around a complex object. He was so disoriented upon awakening that he had to get out of bed and walk around for a few minutes to remember he was a member of the species Homo Sapiens, on the planet Earth. Then, a series of events happened, as if they were triggered by the dream.

An invitation came to attend a Christian Church, which inspired him to study the Bible where he hoped to find the meaning of square yourself. Then, flipping through a magazine after a Sunday church service, he learned about the mystical order of  Rosicrucians who had a large temple 30 miles away in San Jose, and he enrolled for a weekend class. One of the Rosicrucians he met was a UFO enthusiast, who invited him to join a group he called “The Wanderers,” that he explained are souls from other planets who are incarnating as humans. This discovery prompted a strange longing in his gut.

Brad went and met the leader, a man named  Mark Vincent, who shared otherworldly wisdom that went far beyond his youthful appearance. A dozen people were studying a book called the RA Material and discussing the Law of Squares. It was explained that when the group did a meditation to transmit love and light to all humans on Earth, the power of the meditation was squared by the number of people doing it. Mark taught that they were bringing light to the darkness of the planet, and helping humanity. Brad had finally discovered the full meaning of “to become square, square yourself”! It was as though he had just been handed his final mission.

Finding a group of people that were following this esoteric teaching was a marvel. Yet, he had to shake off the suspicion that they were a cult that might commit mass suicide when the next comet swung through the solar system.  The members came from different walks of life and cultural backgrounds, didn’t live together, and only gave Mark a small voluntary donation for hosting the meetings. Mark taught that the Law of One book series by RA is not only about the Wanderers from other planets, but it elegantly described the Oneness of all beings and the creation of the Universe. Nobody was trying to interfere with or control another person’s life.

The teaching about Unity and the Law of One resonated with Brad. Through meditations, childhood memories returned of standing by the ocean or looking at the stars. His mind would go quiet and he would lose the sense of a self that was separate from other things. The meditations began to dissolve the experience of himself as separate from his surroundings, in silence, with no need to refer to the sea or the stars.

The combination of healing his psychological self, and discovering the Wanderers who are here to help humanity, put his life into a new context. Everything resonated.  He had dreams of an other-world identity, where he was responsible for maintaining some kind of transportation tube that stretched across a desert. He had fearful dreams of jets crashing in populated areas.  He knew that it was somehow all interconnected and that his mission was being revealed. But he couldn’t know how precariously things were still hanging in the balance.

"A Very Human Mission" is a fiction novel about an alien who accepts a dare from a member of his group to be born on Earth and help human suffering. Impulsive and overconfident, he chooses to enter a traumatic childhood and encounters ongoing adversity that threaten his mission and even his life. Struggling to overcome personal conflicts and life challenges for many years, he finally gains wisdom about himself and humanity.
